2. Our Products

We offer custom-made sports gumshields (also known as sports mouth guards or mouthpieces) manufactured to your exact dental impressions or digital scan files. Our gumshields are created by qualified dental technicians in our GDC-registered UK sports dental lab in compliance with UK regulations and safety standards.

3. Custom Sports Gumshield Terms

Our custom sports gumshields are designed for protective use during sports and physical activities. They are manufactured precisely to the impressions, models, or digital scan files you provide. Fit quality depends on the accuracy of your impressions or scans and your individual dental anatomy.

4. Your Responsibilities

You must provide accurate dental impressions, digital scan files, or physical models. If impressions are unusable due to inaccuracy or poor quality, a new impression kit must be requested and the manufacturing process will restart once suitable impressions are received.

You are responsible for providing accurate health information and confirming that you are suitable to use a sports gumshield.

Each order is strictly for one customer only. We cannot manufacture gumshields for multiple people from a single order. If you need to order for two or more people, you must place separate orders for each individual.

5. Health, Safety & Appropriate Use

Custom sports gumshields are designed for protective use during sports and physical activities including boxing, MMA, rugby, ice hockey, basketball, and other contact or impact sports.

Risk Assumption and Acknowledgement

By their nature, sports and athletic activities carry inherent risks of injury. By purchasing and using a Piranha custom sports gumshield, you acknowledge and accept that:

• Sports activities, particularly contact and combat sports, are inherently dangerous and carry risk of injury
• While our gumshields are designed to reduce the risk of dental and oral injuries, we cannot and do not guarantee that you will be protected from all injuries
• You assume all risks associated with your participation in sports and athletic activities
• Sports gumshields reduce but do not eliminate the risk of dental injury, concussion, or other injuries
• No protective equipment can prevent all injuries in contact or impact sports

Your gumshield is being manufactured and sold based on this understanding. By placing an order, you explicitly agree that you understand and accept these personal risks.

Proper Use Requirements

Your gumshield should be used during sports, training, competition, sparring, or any athletic activity where dental protection is needed. Proper use includes:

• Checking your gumshield for proper fit before each use
• Inspecting for signs of wear, damage, or deterioration before each use
• Ensuring the gumshield is clean and properly stored when not in use
• Replacing your gumshield if damaged, worn, or no longer fits properly

Do not use your gumshield if:

• It no longer fits properly or feels loose
• It shows signs of wear, tears, holes, or damage
• It has been stretched, warped, or deformed
• It causes persistent pain or discomfort
• It has been exposed to extreme heat or chemicals

Health Contraindications

Custom sports gumshields are not suitable for individuals with:

• Severe gum disease or loose teeth
• Active dental infections or abscesses
• Significant TMJ disorders or jaw pain
• Very loose dental work that may be dislodged during impression-taking or use

If you experience persistent discomfort, pain, difficulty breathing, or any damage to your teeth or dental work while using your gumshield, stop use immediately and consult your dentist.

Care and Storage

Store your gumshield in the provided storage case and keep it away from direct heat sources. Do not expose to temperatures above 60°C as this may cause warping or deformation. Do not leave your gumshield in direct sunlight, hot vehicles, or near heaters. Clean your gumshield after each use with cool water and mild soap or a designated mouthguard cleaner.

6. Allergies and Material Sensitivities

Our gumshields are manufactured using dental-grade materials sourced from approved German dental suppliers. If you have known allergies to dental materials, EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate), or other polymers commonly used in dental appliances, please inform us before placing your order.

We cannot provide medical advice regarding material compatibility. If you are unsure, please consult your dentist before ordering. We are not liable for allergic reactions if we are not informed of your allergies in advance.

7. Dental Work Compatibility

Our gumshields can be worn with most existing dental work including braces, fixed retainers, crowns, bridges, and fillings. However, we do not accept liability for any damage to existing dental fixtures during impression taking or use.

Ensure all dental work is stable and secure before taking impressions or using your gumshield. If you have recently had dental work completed, we recommend waiting until your dentist confirms everything is stable before ordering.

8. Perfect-Fit Guarantee & Remake Policy

We offer a 14-day perfect-fit guarantee. If your gumshield does not fit correctly, we will provide one complimentary remake as a goodwill gesture, subject to the following conditions:

• You must notify us within 14 days of receiving your gumshield
• You must provide clear video evidence showing:
  • The gumshield being inserted and removed from your mouth
  • A close-up view of how it fits or does not fit
  • A brief verbal explanation of the issue
• You must return the original gumshield and all items that came with it (including the storage case)

We may request new impressions or scans before proceeding with the remake to ensure the best possible fit.

Only one remake is permitted per order. If the second gumshield still does not fit after being manufactured to new impressions or scans, no further remakes or refunds will be offered. At this stage, the product has been manufactured precisely to the impression or scan data you provided. Fit issues are due to factors outside of our control, such as changes in your dental profile, limitations in your anatomy, or inaccuracies in the impressions you submitted.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your impressions or scans are accurate and taken according to our guidance. We provide comprehensive video tutorials and WhatsApp support to help you achieve the best results.

What Voids This Guarantee

This Perfect-Fit Guarantee and any warranty protection is immediately void and does not apply if your gumshield has been:

• Altered or Modified: Any stretching, trimming, cutting, filing, sanding, heating to reshape, or other physical modifications made after manufacturing
• Misused or Abused: Damage from biting, chewing when not in use, dropping on hard surfaces, intentional damage, or use for purposes other than sports protection
• Improperly Stored: Exposure to extreme heat (above 60°C), direct sunlight for prolonged periods, hot vehicles, placement near radiators or heaters, or storage in environments that cause warping or deformation
• Exposed to Harmful Substances: Contact with chemicals, solvents, bleach, harsh cleaning agents, alcohol-based mouthwashes in high concentrations, or other substances not recommended for dental appliance care
• Subject to Normal Wear and Tear: General deterioration from regular use over time, minor surface scratches, gradual thinning of material, or colour fading - these are normal and expected with use
• Not Used as Directed: Failure to follow care instructions, not checking for damage before use, or continuing to use a damaged gumshield
• Dental Changes: Changes to your dental structure after impressions were taken, including new dental work, tooth movement, extractions, orthodontic treatment, or other changes that affect fit
• Inaccurate Impressions: Poor quality impressions that did not capture accurate dental anatomy due to improper technique, despite our guidance and support

Expected Lifespan and Wear

Sports gumshields are subject to wear during normal use. The lifespan of your gumshield depends on frequency of use, intensity of sport, bite force, and care practices. Signs of normal wear include minor surface abrasions, slight material compression in high-contact areas, and gradual thinning over months of regular use. These are not defects.

You should replace your gumshield if you notice significant wear, visible damage, changes in fit, or after any major dental work. For athletes in high-impact sports with frequent use, we recommend replacement every 6-12 months or sooner if damage occurs.

9. Design and Customisation

You are responsible for the design choices you make using our online customisation tool, including base colours, text, fonts, text colours, logos, uploaded images, and inside name tags. We manufacture your gumshield exactly as you designed it at the time of order.

Design is Final

Your custom design becomes final once you complete checkout and place your order. Once production has commenced on your gumshield, we CANNOT make any changes to your design, including colours, text, spelling, placement, logos, or any other design elements.

Please review your design extremely carefully before placing your order. Check all spelling, colours, text placement, and uploaded images. We are not responsible for any errors, misspellings, or design choices that you made during the customisation process.

If you contact us requesting design changes after production has started, we cannot guarantee that changes can be accommodated. Production begins the same working day we receive your impressions, models, or digital scan files (if received before 15:00 GMT), so please ensure your design is exactly as you want it before submitting your impressions.

If you realise there is an error in your design before sending your impressions, please contact us immediately at help@getpiranha.co.uk and we will do our best to assist you, though we cannot guarantee changes can be made depending on production status.

Design Placement and Variations

Every person's mouth, teeth, and bite structure are completely unique. Due to natural variations in dental anatomy, the exact placement, size, and appearance of your custom design may vary slightly from the preview shown in our online customisation tool.

Factors that affect design placement include but are not limited to:

• The natural curve and contour of your teeth and dental arch
• The size and spacing of your individual teeth
• Your bite pattern and jaw alignment
• The presence of any dental work such as crowns, bridges, or orthodontics
• The thickness and distribution of material required for proper fit and protection

Text, logos, and graphics may appear slightly stretched, compressed, or repositioned to properly conform to your unique dental anatomy. This is a normal and expected result of custom manufacturing and ensures optimal fit and protection. The customisation tool provides an approximate preview only and cannot account for every individual variation in dental structure.

Slight variations in design placement, size, or appearance due to individual dental anatomy are not considered manufacturing defects and are not eligible for refund or remake. The primary purpose of your sports gumshield is protective fit and function - the custom design is a secondary aesthetic feature.

Offensive or Prohibited Content

We reserve the right to refuse or modify designs that contain:

• Offensive, profane, or inappropriate language or imagery
• Copyrighted material, trademarks, or logos that you do not own or have permission to use
• Content that may violate intellectual property laws
• Hate speech, discriminatory content, or imagery that promotes violence
• Obscene or sexually explicit content

If your design is deemed inappropriate, we will contact you to request modifications before proceeding with production. If you do not respond or refuse to modify the design, your order may be cancelled with a £50 cancellation fee applied.

10. Gumshield Coverage Area

All sports gumshields are designed to cover teeth up to and including the second back teeth (second molars). They do not extend to wisdom teeth (third molars).

This is the professional standard for sports mouthguards and provides optimal fit, comfort, retention, and protection. Extending further back can cause gagging, poor fit, and unnecessary bulk without added protective benefit.

This design specification is intentional and is not considered a defect. It is not eligible for refund or remake.

11. Material Thickness and Variations

Sports gumshields are manufactured with varying thickness across different areas to provide optimal protection and comfort. The material thickness naturally varies due to the contoured shape of teeth and bite patterns.

High-impact areas (front teeth) typically have greater material thickness for maximum protection, while other areas may be thinner for comfort and breathability. This variation in thickness is a professional design feature and does not affect the protective performance of the gumshield.

Natural thickness variations throughout the appliance are normal in professional sports mouthguard manufacturing and are not considered a manufacturing defect. This is not eligible for refund or remake.

12. Cooling-Off Period & Cancellations

Cooling-Off Period

Although UK distance selling rules typically offer a 14-day cancellation right, bespoke custom-made goods are exempt under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Further information can be found at www.gov.uk/accepting-returns-and-giving-refunds. We do not offer refunds on custom products once manufacturing has commenced.

Nonetheless, we voluntarily offer a 14-day cooling-off period from the date the impression kit is delivered, provided the kit remains unopened and unused. You may cancel by contacting us at help@getpiranha.co.uk. A £25 restocking fee will be deducted from your refund to cover processing and handling costs. You must return the kit at your own expense using a tracked service.

Once the impression kit is used, impressions have been submitted, or digital scan files have been uploaded, the cooling-off period ends and the order becomes final and non-refundable.

Post-Cooling-Off Cancellation (Pre-Manufacture)

If you cancel after the cooling-off period but before manufacture begins, a £50 cancellation fee will apply. This fee reflects administration costs, processing time, and loss of production resources. The remaining balance will be refunded to your original payment method.

Cancellation Due to Inaccurate Information

If cancellation is due to you supplying false, incomplete, or misleading health or eligibility information, a £50 cancellation fee applies. If your information was accurate but we determine your case is unsuitable for a custom gumshield, you will receive a full refund.

No Refunds After Manufacturing

Once manufacturing has commenced, orders cannot be cancelled and refunds will not be provided except in cases covered by our Perfect-Fit Guarantee (Section 8) or where the product is found to be defective due to a manufacturing error on our part.

13. Shipping & Delivery

We are not liable for courier delays, loss, or damage once items have been dispatched from our facility. You must report any delivery issues within 10 days of the estimated delivery date.

Any "leave safe" or "safe place" deliveries authorized by you are entirely at your own risk. Piranha is not responsible for parcels left without a signature that are subsequently lost or stolen.

Parcels returned to us due to failed delivery, incorrect address, or failure to collect from a pickup point may incur re-shipping charges.

For international orders, you are responsible for all customs duties, VAT, import taxes, and brokerage fees. These charges are not included in our pricing and cannot be refunded.

14. Order Formation & Changes

A binding contract is formed upon our order confirmation email being sent to you. We reserve the right to cancel orders in cases of misuse, non-payment, chargebacks, fraudulent activity, or if impressions are deemed unsuitable for manufacturing.

Changes to your order (including design changes, address changes, or production timeframe changes) are only permitted before manufacturing commences. Once production begins, no changes can be made.

15. Pricing & Errors

All prices displayed on our website include VAT where applicable. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors before order acceptance and will inform you promptly if this occurs. You will have the option to proceed at the correct price or cancel without penalty.

16. Payment Terms

Payment is required in full at the time of ordering unless you select a payment plan option (such as Klarna) at checkout. Payment plan terms are subject to approval by the third-party payment provider and are governed by their terms and conditions.

Chargebacks initiated without first contacting us to resolve an issue may result in your order being cancelled and your account being suspended from future purchases.

17. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, designs, logos, and branding on the Piranha website and products are owned by Venneir Limited. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or misuse them without express written permission.

The Piranha® name and logo are registered trademarks of Venneir Limited.

18. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures to fulfill orders caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, courier disruptions, supplier failures, power outages, or any other unforeseen events.

19. Medical and Sports Disclaimer

Information on our website is for general guidance only and does not constitute medical or professional sports advice. Custom sports gumshields provide protective benefits but cannot guarantee prevention of all dental injuries or concussions.

You should consult with your dentist, doctor, or sports professional if you have any concerns about your suitability for using a sports gumshield or regarding any existing dental or medical conditions.

Sports gumshields do not replace professional medical advice or treatment. Always seek professional guidance for any health-related concerns.

20. Liability Limitation

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law.

Subject to the above, our total liability to you for any loss or damage arising from your order is limited to the amount you paid for that specific order.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses including but not limited to: dental treatment costs resulting from sports injuries, loss of earnings, travel costs, emotional distress, or any losses that were not reasonably foreseeable at the time of order.

Sports Activity Risks

You expressly acknowledge and agree that sports gumshields are designed to reduce the risk of dental and oral injuries but cannot prevent all injuries. By purchasing and using our products, you accept that:

• Sports activities involve inherent and unavoidable risks of injury
• No protective equipment can guarantee complete protection from injury
• You assume all risks associated with your chosen sports and activities
• We are not liable for injuries sustained while wearing our products during sports activities, including but not limited to dental injuries, concussions, facial injuries, jaw injuries, or any other sports-related injuries

This limitation applies regardless of whether the injury occurs during training, competition, supervised or unsupervised activities, amateur or professional sports, or any other athletic context.

No Liability for Improper Use

We are not liable for any damage, injury, or loss resulting from:

• Failure to follow instructions for taking impressions, fitting, or using your gumshield
• Modifications, alterations, or tampering with your gumshield
• Use of a damaged, worn, or improperly fitting gumshield
• Improper storage or care that results in warping, deformation, or deterioration
• Use of your gumshield beyond its reasonable lifespan or after signs of wear

Manufacturing Quality

Our gumshields are manufactured to professional standards in our GDC-registered UK dental lab. However, the final fit and comfort depend entirely on the accuracy of the impressions, models, or digital scans you provide. We are not liable for fit issues resulting from inaccurate impression data, changes in your dental structure, or anatomical limitations that prevent optimal fit.

21. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland and the United Kingdom. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of our website and products will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Scotland and the United Kingdom.

22. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of our website or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

23. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of law, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
